With just two part-time staff people and a small group of contractors, Chesapeake Music depends on the dedication of close to 100 volunteers in order to present its many Festivals, performances, and events. These volunteers serve on planning committees, working committees, and at events themselves. Volunteers are truly the lifeblood of this organization!
If you have a passion for music or an interest in supporting the arts in the Mid-Shore region, please consider volunteering. All volunteers are invited to attend an annual thank-you reception at the home of a Board member prior to the June Chamber Music Festival!
CM prides itself on a well-organized management and volunteer committee structure. There are four committees that oversee different program areas for the organization: the Chamber Music Festival, the Chamber Music Competition, Jazz on the Chesapeake, and YouthReach. There are also four committees that are critical to the organization’s functioning: the Gala Committee; the Development Committee; the Volunteer Committee; and the Communications Committee. Each of these Committees has at least one chairperson who reports to the Board of Directors, which is overseen by President Chloe Pitard.
THE FOLLOWING VOLUNTEER POSITIONS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE:
Social Media Intern
The person in this position will be responsible for helping both design and implement CM’s social media strategy. This internship can be conducted from any location, but the intern must be available for occasional conference calls with members of the Communications committee, who are based in Easton, Maryland. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter who is able to think creatively and work independently. We ask for a minimum of a 3-month commitment. This is a great opportunity to build a social media resume.
Chamber Music Festival Facebook Administrator
The person in this position will work in conjunction with the Jazz on the Chesapeake Facebook Administrator, the Social Media Intern, and other members of the Communications Committee to coordinate postings to CM’s Facebook pages. This is a “virtual” volunteer position that is ideal for someone in the Mid-Shore region who wants to help support the local arts community.
YouthReach Committee Members
The YouthReach Committee is looking for new members to help oversee the YouthReach program. Assistance is needed with strategic planning, communications, grant proposal writing, and school relations. Meetings are held in the morning on the first Thursday of every month at the Chesapeake Music office in downtown Easton. This is a great opportunity for Easton parents to get involved with a fabulous program that brings music to mid-shore schools.
If you are interested in applying for any of these positions, please fill out the volunteer application and send it to the attention of Don Buxton, Executive Director: firstname.lastname@example.org.
